MONTHLY
- Replace furnace fliters to run your furnace more efficiently and improve your air quality
- Check fire extinguishers
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Clean range hood filter
- Check water softener and replenish with salt if necessary
- Check indoor and outdoor air vents for any blockages
ANNUALLY
- In the warmer months, disconnect and spray down your air conditioning unit with water to clear from loose debris
- Have a professional check your septic tank. Watch for backup throughout the year
INSPECT, CLEAN & REPAIR
Spring and Fall are great time to complete an exterior home check. Inspect your roof, siding, windows and doors. Be sure to repair as needed!
Seasonal Home Maintenance
SPRING
- Inspect roofs’ surface, flashing, eaves, and soffits
- Clean out gutters and downspouts. Inspect and repair.
- Inspect and clean siding
- Fill cracks, caulk edged and repaint windowsills, door-sills and thresholds
- Change air conditioning filter
- Remove insulation from outdoor faucets
- Fertilize your lawn
SUMMER
- Oil door hinges, garage door, garage door opener & chain
- Remove lint from inside and outside washer hoses and dryer vents
- Clean kitchen exhaust fan filter
- Clean refrigerator and freezer coils
- Seal tile grout
- Prune trees and shrubs
FALL
- Inspect roofs’ surface, flashing, eaves, and soffits
- Clean out gutters and downspouts. Inspect and repair.
- Inspect and clean siding
- Seal cracks and gaps in windows and doors with caulk or weather stripping
- Inspect window and door weather stripping
- Clean your thermostat’s heat sensor, contact points (check accuracy)
- Turn off outdoor faucets and drain hoses. Wrap insulation around outdoor faucets and pipes in unheated garages.
- Rake leaves and aerate lawn
WINTER
- Cover air-conditioning unit
- Check basement for leaks during thaws
- Inspect roof, gutters, and downspouts for damage after storms
